SHINE BRIGHT
Earlier this year, Penélope Cruz showcased pieces from her first fine jewelry collection, created with Atelier Swarovski, on the red carpet at Cannes Film Festival. Following this glamorous debut, the entire collection was unveiled at an exclusive cocktail event in Paris during Haute Couture Week.
Nadja Swarovski and special guest Penélope Cruz welcomed friends and VIP guests to Michelin-starred restaurant Apicius to preview the collection and to celebrate the creativity, innovation and sustainability at its heart.
Cruz’s inspiration was Old Hollywood glamour and classic jewelry design, with bold and beautiful hero stones haloed by sparkling surrounds. Atelier Swarovski has realized this vision using the most responsible materials available, to create a collection that is the epitome of conscious luxury. Made with precision-cut Swarovski Created Diamonds, created rubies, created sapphires and responsibly sourced Swarovski Genuine Topaz set in Fairtrade Gold, this collection shows that sustainability and red carpet style can walk hand in hand.
“It has been a true pleasure to work together with Penélope and jointly explore Atelier Swarovski’s commitment to conscious luxury,” said Nadja Swarovski. “The collection combines flawless red carpet elegance with responsible craftsmanship and sourcing.” Cruz echoed her sentiment, saying, “When Nadja and I began to explore the possibility of working with created gemstones and Fairtrade Gold, it seemed like the perfect fit. The way she talked about what they are doing really moved me. I am lucky to be in a position where I can to help shine a light on conscious luxury and create and promote products that create positive impact.”
The Atelier Swarovski by Penélope Cruz Fine Jewelry Collection also marks the brand’s commitment to making all its fine jewelry pieces with responsibly sourced gold. The gold used to create the collection is sourced through the Fairtrade system from the Minera Limata Limitada co-operative in Peru. This environmentally responsible gold mining project provides local alpaca breeders with additional income and promotes the sustainable development of the Limata community. Meanwhile, the created gemstones are man-made in state-of-the-art laboratories, yet have the same exceptional qualities as mined gemstones with a lower environmental impact.
