#CRYSTALONTHECATWALK: PARIS FASHION WEEK AW20
On our final stop of #CrystalOnTheCatwalk, we land in Paris to watch Swarovski sparkle across the last runways of the season. From intricate patterns to bright crystal shades, the shows of Koché and Kevin Germanier displayed new ways to shine for AW20.
100,000 radiant crystals dazzled Koché’s AW20 collection at Paris Fashion Week. We caught up with designer, Christelle Kocher to see the drive behind her show and take a closer look at her cutting-edge designs. Marking this as our ninth collaboration, this season she played with Swarovski crystals to embellish patterned motifs on skirts and gowns, as well as forming geometric shapes on tailored looks. Crystal beads also brought light to bold accessories.
158,000 upcycled crystals beamed throughout Kevin Germanier’s AW20 presentation. Continuing his commitment to conscious design, he captured glamorous sustainability, making models shine from head to toe, “This season I was driven by the idea of ‘sensual sustainability’ – to design something super glamorous from upcycled green stock. This is also the first time we’ve worked in patterns with the Swarovski crystals, creating a constellation of mix-and-match stones across different fabrics.” Highlights included swathes of hypnotizing crystals across feather-trimmed tailoring, gowns, tops, jeans and a T-shirt emblazoned with a ‘Finish the Fight’ message.
Earrings created in collaboration with Korean jewelry brand Beauton featured upcycled crystal pendants, and Swarovski stones were also used across Germanier’s sparkling set design, creating a dazzling atmosphere for the show at Christie’s in Paris. This was the fifth time Swarovski has collaborated with Kevin Germanier, who has been heralded for his innovative approach to sustainable glamour.
Swarovski Upcycled Crystals are unused, unsold, imperfect, lightly used and/or retired crystals, which are made available to creative designers who want to give Swarovski crystals new use. Utilizing upcycled crystals supports Swarovski’s sustainability initiatives by promoting the responsible consumption and production of crystals.
