This magical evening was filled with over 350 industry insiders, which included Fiona Xie, Aisyah Aziz, Wendy Jacobs, Iman Fandi and Andrea Chong. Eight up-and-coming designers showcased their Swarovski encrusted collections on the runway and, shortly after, Kelly Vallerie from Indonesia was announced as regional winner.
For her transformative Freaks by Kelly Vallerie collection, Vallerie received a master’s degree scholarship in Fashion and Luxury Brand Management from Istituto Marangoni as well as a spread in all four editions of Harper’s Bazaar and a cash prize of $10,000. On winning this award, Vallerie provided some inspirational words: “Be yourself, be original. Life is full of learning and surprises.”
Editor-in-Chief of Harper’s Bazaar Singapore said: Kelly truly embraces what consumers are looking for in design and fashion: An appreciation for the environment and a true sense of self and authenticity, coupled with craftsmanship and originality.”
Both runner ups, Lê Hoàng Sơn from Vietnam and Rena Kok from Singapore, secured a short-course scholarship at Istituto Marangoni.
