A Stage Ablaze
Marking a brilliant 15th year of partnership, Swarovski and Victoria’s Secret joined forces for the 2017 Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show where fashion and music combined with more than one million Swarovski crystals for a mesmerizing display. Those in the front row – including fashion editors and tastemakers. 55 of the world’s top models lit up the Shanghai theater with 22 Swarovski crystal-studded lingerie looks throughout the evening, where crystals adorned lingerie, wings, footwear and jewelry for a sparkling effect.
Swarovski Executive Board Member Markus Langes-Swarovski shares “This Crystal Anniversary with Victoria’s Secret is a sparkling milestone. For the 15th year, we welcome the opportunity to introduce ever more fantasy, glamour and radiance to the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show.”
Both established stars such as Alessandra Ambrosio and trending names such as Bella Hadid made grand entrances among the 55-model troupe on the stage that night. Even crowd-pleaser Karlie Kloss returned to mesmerize watchers after a three-year absence from the event. Their sky-high heels and a palette of both cool blues and hot reds fired up each of the four themed looks of the evening. Balmain-collaboration Punk Angel creations defiantly set up the more ethereal Porcelain Angel and A Winter’s Tale looks that followed it. Then, the ensembles inspired by Millennial Nation, Goddesses and Nomadic Adventure raised the stakes – a signature of the show’s reverberating finales over the years.
Setting the show ablaze, Stockholm-raised angel Elsa Hosk donned the winged 2017 Swarovski Look designed by Paris-based couturier Serkan Cura. The lavish creation included over 275,000 fiery-hued Swarovski crystals with the wings being the dazzling focal point. Made with 200 yards (183m) of woven ribbon and pavé crystals, the elaborate wings were finished off with a crystallized wing harness and hand beaded jewelry.
Hosk joins past stunning Swarovski Looks at the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show, including the Fairytale look worn by Lily Donaldson in 2014, LED wings in the Fireworks look worn by Angel Martha Hunt in 2015, and the look from the Bright Night Angel segment worn by Angel Josephine Skriver in 2016. Since 2003, Swarovski and Victoria’s Secret have partnered to bring fantasy and glamour to life across the globe in spectacular fashion.
