Nadja Swarovski has lent her talents to ‘The White Shirt Project’, a tribute to the late fashion icon and Swarovski collaborator Karl Lagerfeld, curated by Carine Roitfeld. Welcoming an impressive line-up of Lagerfeld’s friends, including Amber Valletta, Lewis Hamilton, Sebastien Jondeau and Alessandro Michele, the project tasked participants with re-imagining Lagerfeld’s favorite garment - the classic white shirt. Each talent was asked to put their own twist on the piece, with seven of the designs going on sale online to raise money for medical charity Sauver la Vie.
Adding a touch of sparkle to the series, Nadja Swarovski’s design featured a portrait of Lagerfeld formed from 6,000 Swarovski crystals emblazoned across the back of the white cotton shirt. The cuffs also received the crystal treatment, and were fully covered in Hotfix stones. With an eye for a hidden detail, Swarovski placed yet more glittering stones inside the shirt’s front placket. In total, the design featured over 12,000 crystals.
The shirts went on display at an exhibition during Paris Fashion Week 2019 – and the show is set to move on to a number of Karl Lagerfeld stores around the globe. The seven shirts are available to purchase through KARL.com or the Farfetch website.
