In a new partnership promoting creative innovation, Swarovski has teamed up with The Prince’s Trust to support disadvantaged and vulnerable young people in the UK through an inspiring design project. During the one-year partnership, Swarovski will donate significant product and development resources to ten young people who will take part in a design program with a focus on sustainability.
Kickstarting the collaboration, Swarovski became the first company to sponsor an event for The Prince’s Trust with the One Million Young Lives Dinner on the 14th of December at Buckingham Palace. The exclusive event saw Nadja Swarovski, Member of the Swarovski Executive Board, presented to HRH The Prince of Wales along with nine prestigious guests, while the charity’s invitees included 40 philanthropists, founding patrons, key donors, generous donors from The Prince’s Trust family, long-standing celebrity ambassadors and select alumnae of the Prince’s Trust program. Held to celebrate the success of the ‘One Million Young Lives’ campaign, which raised £40m to aid the charity’s international growth, the evening also marked the 40th anniversary of the Trust helping young people to achieve their full potential.
The Prince’s Trust seeks to support underprivileged youth with training programs, mentoring and financial grants to help them create a brighter future. In 2018, ten young people will collaborate with Swarovski on a program aligned to the brand’s philanthropic and sustainability objectives. The selected group will attend a hands-on workshop to develop designs using ‘upcycled’ crystal under the mentorship of Swarovski’s product design team. One winning participant will be given the opportunity to manufacture their product at Swarovski’s headquarters in Wattens.
Partnerships such as this allow Swarovski to aid in the development of disadvantaged young people, enabling them to learn practical skills and, more importantly, life skills through creative and motivating sessions within the arts and crafts, fueling ambition and confidence to stabilize their lives and help them take a positive next step.
