Korins, best known for his work on Broadway smashes Hamilton and Dear Evan Hanson, looked to nature for the inspiration behind this year’s dazzling adornments. For the Crystal Cloud, 1,250 floating crystal strands created ethereal, atmospheric clouds, while the Crystal Swag presented the illusion of an upward-flowing waterfall complete with 400 crystal strands. Free-flowing creations featuring 1,800 crystals made up the Crystal Presenter Backing, providing a high-shine setting for award presenters.
This mixture of abstract and organic shapes spoke to the current culture, harmoniously embodying a feeling of inclusivity and togetherness. Precision-cut Swarovski crystal beads, flatbacks and pearls in gold and silver shades provided warmth and light as it wrapped out into the audience in a radiant embrace.
Off the stage, 278 crystal strands lined the red carpet, lighting the way for Hollywood’s stars – a select few adding elegance and innovation to their looks with Atelier Swarovski. Constance Wu and Kiki Layne wore responsibly sourced Fine Jewelry made with Swarovski Created Diamonds and Swarovski Genuine Topaz. Outside the Dolby Theatre, actress Cara Santana carried a shimmering Marina Bag to the 27th Annual Elton John Oscars Viewing Party. Anne Winters attended the Mercedes-Benz USA’s Oscars Viewing Party wearing a sultry silver gown and sinuous pieces from the Tigris collection.
Swarovski’s stage presence and star-studded appearances reflect a longstanding connection to the entertainment industry at large, beginning over 85 years ago with a debut appearance in the Marlene Dietrich film Blonde Venus. Swarovski has continued to shine on screen in an on-going list of legendary productions including Gentlemen Prefer Blonde and Breakfast at Tiffany’s as well as more recent hits Bohemian Rhapsody, Mary Queen of Scots, The Great Gatsby and Disney’s adaptations of Cinderella and Beauty and the Beast.
