The M1992 designer is known for his “sadboy” high-low aesthetic of 1990s-inspired streetwear juxtaposed with fine tailoring and rich textures. Tarantini partnered with Swarovski for the fourth season in a row to introduce glamorous shimmer to his latest collection, covering four designs in more than 590,000 Black Diamond and Clear crystals.
Inspired by the dark side of Hollywood and its flashy red-carpet events, the crystallized pieces on the runway included: a grey suit jacket with all-over crystals; a white short suit with pinstripe crystals; a biker jacket with all-over crystals and bespoke crystal chain detailing; and a white t-shirt emblazoned with the word “Limousine” and five sparkling crystal stars.
For his collection last season, he derived his creative vision from Nineties Britpop, as black bombers and white leather separates met tops and hoodies embellished with the Union Jack. Five of his looks were covered in over 466,000 Swarovski crystals.
M1992’s designer Dorian Stefano Tarantini commented: “It’s always so exciting working with Swarovski crystals, even more for my menswear collections. I love the surfaces full of lights that can enrich more traditional and sartorial garments. For M1992 Spring/Summer 2020 collection, the crystals enlighten the catwalk, becoming an essential and recognizable trait of the brand.”
