Sponsored by MCM with additional support from SHOW Beauty, the Lady Garden Gala was hosted by guest of honor, Dame Joan Collins, along with Sarah, Duchess of York; Sung-Joo Kim; Tania Bryer; Jenny Halpern-Prince; Tamara Beckwith-Veroni; Trinny Woodall; June Sarpong; and Member of the Swarovski Executive Board Nadja Swarovski.
While seated around tables topped with sparkling Swarovski crystal, guests participated in a silent auction with top prizes including a Chanel sponsored trip to Paris, a private dinner for twelve at Maison Assouline, a beautiful print by David Yarrow, and a money-can’t-buy Chelsea Football Club package. In between a champagne toast and a brilliant performance by Melanie C, SHOW Beauty and TRINNY LONDON pampered attendees in a pop-up suite, offering complimentary blow outs and glamorous makeovers.
Half of the funds raised were granted to the Gynaecological Cancer Fund’s Lady Garden campaign. The campaign fights to raise awareness among young women about gynecological cancer and its symptoms, in the hope that those affected by this ‘silent killer’ – named for the disease’s tendency to often be diagnosed too late - can be reduced radically in generations to come.
The remaining funds were presented to Cancer Research UK, the world’s leading cancer charity. As a non-government funded organization, every pound serves to aid its pioneering work into the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of cancer, which has seen survival in the UK double in the last forty years, helping to save millions of lives.
Alongside the Lady Garden Gala, Swarovski continues its longstanding support for women’s causes throughout the globe, from health and well-being efforts to empowerment initiatives aimed at achieving equality for women in the workplace.
