As part of the conference that included attendees such as Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella, Lufthansa CEO Carsten Spohr, and actress Isabella Rossellini, Swarovski participated in an on-stage discussion featuring Swarovski Executive Board Member Nadja Swarovski and Karl Lagerfeld President, Pier Paolo Righi. Moderated by Hans-Ulrich Obrist, Art Director of the Serpentine Gallery in London, the business leaders discussed the power of collaboration in fashion and design, and how brands can have a lasting yet positive impact in communities and with customers.
During this discussion, Swarovski and fashion icon Karl Lagerfeld announced the partnership of their creative forces once again to create the 2017 Vienna Opera Ball tiara. Worn by all debutantes in attendance of the famed Austrian event on February 23rd, this year's piece was inspired by the Blue Danube and is aptly entitled "Le Beau Danube Bleu”.
In addition to the famed tiara, Karl Lagerfeld brand also announced its expansion of its global portfolio with a fashion jewelry collection, through a global, exclusive, multi-year licensing agreement with The Swarovski Group. Launching in September 2017, the KARL LAGERFELD women’s fashion jewelry collection will be available at Swarovski Crystal Worlds retail locations and at select key retailers worldwide, in addition to KARL LAGERFELD stores and karl.com. A first glimpse of the collection will be on display at Swarovski’s booth at the Baselworld tradeshow in March 2017.
