The evening’s nominees included Mike Amiri of Amiri, Laura Vassar Brock & Kristopher Brock of Brock Collection, Aurora James of Brother Vellies, Kerby Jean-Raymond of Pyer Moss and Sander Lak of Sies Marjan.
The event took place at Dumbo House, a new Soho House property, where doors opened for the first time ever to welcome fashion A-listers with sweeping views of NYC. The up-and-coming locale acted as a nod to the CFDA Fashion Award’s unprecedented choice of venue for 2018 – the Brooklyn Museum – acknowledging that the ceremony will be held outside of Manhattan for the first time in its 17-year history.
Festivities began as DJ Zuri Marley, Bob Marley’s granddaughter, took to the turntables in a pair of Swarovski crystallized headphones. Influencers like Angel & Dren Coleman, Dylana & Natalie Lim Suarez and Tk Wonder & Cipriana Quann lit up the space in luxe Atelier Swarovski jewelry while sipping on bespoke cocktails like the Bloody Brilliant – a gin and blood-orange mix. A Swarovski crystal hotfix station offered invitees a chance to embellish a custom tote and an exhibition designed by the evening’s nominees spoke to the group’s award-worthy talents.
The VIP event was held in anticipation of the CFDA Fashion Awards on June 4th when the winner of the Swarovski Award for Emerging Talent will be announced.
