Continuing the support of extraordinary emerging talents in Art and Design, Swarovski will be hosting multiple events throughout the city during Hong Kong’s prestigious Art Week. Beginning March 21st, the immersive Sharevari by Yuri Suzuki will be on display during the 3rd annual Art Central fair. In addition to this spectacular installation, there will be multiple Swarovski events including support for Serpentine Galleries’ Zaha Hadid exhibition.
Swarovski marks the third consecutive year of being an Official Art Central Partner by presenting Yuri Suzuki’s innovative ‘Sharevari’ installation. The experience will delight the attendees both visually and acoustically as attendees enter Art Central. ‘Sharevari’ includes an interactive crystallophone which explores crystal’s abilities in acoustics. The installation consists of 16 brass mechanical structures or ‘notes’, each one featuring a differing size of bespoke crystal that when struck emits a beautiful pure sound. As well as playing original compositions by Suzuki, audiences can also ‘conduct’ songs with their hands through a network of sensors, making ‘Sharevari’ a unique and immersive experience.
London-based Japanese sound artist Yuri Suzuki was one of three winners of the 2016 Swarovski Designers of the Future Award, awarded in partnership with Design Miami/. For their commissions, first presented at Design Miami/ Basel last June, the emerging designers were challenged to work with crystal beyond pure product design and represent conceptually or technologically vanguard approaches. After visiting Swarovski headquarters in Austria as part of the award program, Suzuki worked with a team of Swarovski engineers to meticulously develop ‘Sharevari’ into the innovative and engrossing experience on display at this year’s Art Central.
In addition to Art Central, Swarovski continues its support for the Serpentine Galleries’ Zaha Hadid Exhibition, which is on display in Hong Kong from March 17 to April 6 at Artistree in Taikoo Place. The exhibition displays some of the early paintings drawings and pieces from the late designer’s esteemed career. In support of the exhibition, a casual conversation with Nadja, the Serpentine Galleries’ Yana Peel and Simon du Pury will be hosted at Upper House on March 22, where they will discuss Hadid’s role in blurring the lines between art and design.
Through events around the globe including Art Basel, Design Miami, Salone di Mobile, and Art Central, Swarovski continues to support innovative and emerging talent in the art and design.
