In ten seasons of collaboration, the esteemed designer has used more than 1.7 million Swarovski crystals on over 100 looks. In each design, the couturier has explored new interactions between crystal and savoir-faire, with an emphasis on embroidery and custom details. From the first season of collaboration with its prominent V designs to Bella Hadid’s magnificent crystal opening for Spring/Summer 2017 on January 24, 2017, Vauthier showcases design in new and unexpected ways.
Vauthier shares, “Swarovski crystal and fine artisan craftsmanship are both part of my DNA. All my collections are created with a touch of crystal. Our histories are indivisible.”
Vauthier opened his eponymous fashion house in 2009 following an 8 year residence as Head of Couture for Jean Paul Gaultier. Vauthier began his career with Thierry Mugler where he learned the importance of precision craftsmanship and radical cuts and shapes.
This season, the designer marked an important milestone in his relationship with Swarovski.
To celebrate, Vauthier unveiled a special crystal-embellished anniversary dress made with 10,500 crystals worn by top model Bella Hadid in his Spring/Summer 2017 show during Couture Fashion Week in Paris. His sheer one-shoulder dress for her was entirely enveloped in spectacular crystals that brilliantly reflected the spotlight. Model Kendall Jenner stunned as well gracing the runway with a strapless, Swarovski crystal-studded starburst dress which was covered with 11,000 crystals. In the end, the entire collection of geometric cuts and bold, bright colors made an impression on every attendee in the Grand Palais.
Following the show, Vauthier and Swarovski hosted an intimate dinner with some of fashion’s finest, including such esteemed guests as Jean-Baptiste Mondino, Bruce Pavlovsky, Bella Hadid, and Hana Jirickova among others. The fashion set arrived at the newly reopened Ritz Paris on Place Vendôme.to toast the designer and to discover the retrospective exhibit featuring his crystal looks over the years. Nadja Swarovski, Member of the Swarovski Executive Board, commented, “These crystal runway pieces perfectly showcase the artisan craft of his haute couture work.” In response, Alexandre Vauthier commented, “Swarovski has supported me from the start.
