Our global Mentoring program provides the opportunity to grow a powerful, developmental relationship that enables and facilitates personal reflection, change or transition.
This journey started with a successful pilot in Europe in 2014, after which we launched the program globally in 2015 with cohorts in APAC and Europe. By the end of 2015 we had built a pool of over 100 mentors and mentees and we are now able to offer mentoring opportunities globally. The mentoring approach chosen at Swarovski is called Developmental Mentoring, which is often described as “(…) a helping relationship based on an exchange of knowledge, experience and goodwill. Mentors help someone less experienced gain confidence, clearer purpose, insight and wisdom. In developmental mentoring the mentor, too, is changed by the relationship.” (D. Clutterbuck)
Developmental mentoring encourages an environment where people are engaged in high quality conversations and helps develop relationships built on trust.
Our Mentoring program also supports our women in leadership journey, our leadership philosophy, and helps us to foster a culture of trust and confidence in leaders.
what is mentoring?
Successful Mentoring is based on trust, commitment, emotional connection and engagement.
The Mentoring relationship is driven by the mentee, who sets goals and expectations and commits to an open an honest exchange. Our mentors also play a crucial role in challenging, listening, stretching and offering guidance. The mentors’ role is not to tell their mentees what to do rather their focus is on listening, questioning, offering support and constructive feedback.
As a result, both parties benefit from the relationship since it is an open exchange of experiences and knowledge, where hierarchy and power are “parked” in favor of a more equal relationship.
We provide full and mandatory training to both mentors and mentees to support the success of the relationship – an opportunity to learn new skills and network with like-minded colleagues.
We also provide ongoing support throughout the mentoring relationship with Action Learning Sessions and mid-point meetings for mentors and mentees, who have the opportunity to share their experience with, and get support from, fellow participants.
