The Vogue Talents project aims to support designers in their work towards establishing a fashion label. As well as product support, participants will receive connections to buyers and retail stores, brand building marketing outlets, and an opportunity to promote their work on an international stage with the assistance of Vogue and Swarovski.
Five groundbreaking designers were selected for this program, representing a wide range of countries, cultures and aesthetics. They include Dubai-based designer Nathalie Trad, London-based designer Anita Horsfall for Anita Quansah London, New York-based designer Aurora James for Brother Vellies, Jeddah-based designer Mariam Bin Mahfouz for Haal Inc. and Riyadh-based designer Nora Aldamer for Chador.
An exhibition featuring the works of each of these designers was unveiled during Milan Fashion Week. Housed in the Palazzo Morando, each of the designers incorporated crystal in new and exciting ways—demonstrating the limitless creative potential of crystal as a design material. These pieces will form an innovative capsule collection which will be sold in limited quantities. Some of the participants will also have the opportunity to join a mentoring program working together with Swarovski and Vogue.
The collaboration between Swarovski and Vogue Italia was announced in the August issue of the magazine and looks from the capsule collection will appear in the November issue.
