Tim Yip commented: “I visited Swarovski’s headquarters in Austria previously and became fascinated with the production of crystals and its uses. One such crystal left a deep impression on me, dark yet almost mystical in appearance. Since then I have always looked forward to using Swarovski crystals as artistic components and I believe we have done so with ‘Shaping’.”
Yip’s breadth of work crosses multiple disciplines. He has worked as a visual artist and art director across film, theater, opera, dance and television. Yip is most widely known for his work as a costume designer, contributing to celebrated projects such as “The Banquet” and “Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon,” for which he won the Academy Award for Best Art Direction.
“Reformation” will be on display as part of the China Shanghai International Arts Festival from September 23 until October 23, 2016 at the Power Station of Art.
