The designer’s Spring/Summer and Autumn/Winter collections in 2017 explored the cultural and aesthetic facets of denim emphasizing recycled denim and hand-dyed indigo yarns embroidered with Swarovski crystals. Faustine Steinmetz stated, “Denim is such a democratic product so it is really difficult to validate within the luxury sphere; it's quite a new concept to have luxury denim. Working with Swarovski helped us to use the codes of that very elevated universe and incorporate them into denim.”
In response to the importance of partnerships for emerging designers, Steinmetz commented, “From a business point of view it is incredibly helpful to have the support of an international brand like Swarovski. On a personal level as a designer you really have to believe in your product and your brand, it’s not always easy, so to have that validation is amazing- that the brand trusts and challenges designers to push the boundaries of crystal in fashion is inspiring.”
The Swarovski Collective demonstrates our enduring dedication to supporting talent in the fashion industry. Through the initiative Swarovski has partnered with over 150 emerging and established designers; providing creative encouragement through crystal use and financial sponsorship.
